I have been participating at "The Day of Caring" for the last 14 years. I feel it`s a small way I can give back to the community. The four hours we work as a group is always fun and busy. I convinced my husband to help out the last couple of years and he also enjoys himself. I would encourage anyone who has a giving heart to consider donating some of their precious time to help out, on the "Day of Caring". The pride you feel for your community will be your reward. Raising funds is only a part of what is done at United Way. The partnership with the member agencies also provides them with educational and collaborative opportunities within the community and with agencies who may provide similar yet different services.
Over 700 volunteers participate each year in the United Way, some of the many ways they are involved is by planning and implementing special events, organizing the annual campaign, allocating the funds raised, and general governance of the organization. These are just some of the committees, in addition to our largest the Day of Caring committee, who diligently give of their time to support the communities in Douglas County.
We are proud to be a part of such a wonderful, giving community.
